Bizarre Animals - Elephant Shrew

This bizarre looking animal has been dubbed "Giant Elephant Shrew". Found within the mountains of Tanzania, this weird animal has a 'trunk' just like an elephant would!


The strange animal is the equivalent to the size of a cat. It weighs just under a kilo and nearly 12 inches in length. It "flicks up" small insects with it's trunk to eat.

 Scientists have named it:  Rhynochocyon udzungwensis
